You don’t need to defrost Hotpoint fridge freezers as they have frost-free technology! A food freshness feature will keep your fruit and veg fresh for longer – and a fast freeze quickly lowers the temperature inside the freezer compartment.
With easy slide-out shelves, reversible door hinges, and fresh zone drawers, these fridge freezers are a kitchen must-have. So, what do you do when technology has a glitch and things aren’t working as they should? Look at Hotpoint fridge freezer troubleshooting here…
Hotpoint Fridge Freezer Noise Problems
If the fridge freezer is loud when one of the doors are opened this could be due to a fault with the evaporator. The evaporator fan motor pulls air over the evaporator coils when the compressor is running. A defective evaporator fan will make a loud noise – and you’ll also find that your fridge is warmer than normal and ice takes longer to freeze.
Common Hotpoint fridge freezer problems with frost-free technology are related to the condenser fan which circulates air through the condenser coil to remove heat and moves the air over the drain pan to evaporate the defrost water. This noise may also coincide with the appliance regularly turning on and off.
If the noise is coming from the compressor this may be due to internal damage. Components can be subject to wear and tear over time – which generates an abnormal level of noise.
When the ice-maker is filling a loud noise here indicates the water inlet valve may be faulty. This electronically controlled valve opens to supply water to the dispenser and icemaker within the appliance. If mineral deposits accumulate inside the valve this can restrict the flow of water.
A Hotpoint fridge freezer making a loud buzzing noise that is getting worse also indicates an issue with the evaporator fan. This may happen due to the fan losing lubrication, becoming unfixed, or developing an electrical fault. Alternatively, humming noises can also initiate from the ice dispenser which may mean it’s not connected properly or has developed a fault.
Hotpoint Fridge Freezer Lights Problems
Hotpoint fridge freezer problems with lights flashing generally mean that the appliance needs to be reset and instructions vary depending on the model of your appliance. Turning the operation knob – located inside the fridge at the top of the unit – to the off position and allowing a power down followed by a restart will often reset the appliance.
Unplugging the fridge freezer will ensure the power indicator light turns off allowing the internal thermostat to reset, and the main control panel to reboot.
The light in the fridge may be blinking due to a defective LED light module on the fridge side. These specific types of light are designed with a built-in dimmer that controls fridge lighting. If the dimmer starts to fail this can cause flashing, and the LED module will need to be replaced.
An amber light illuminated on the front of your Hotpoint fridge freezer indicates that the fast freeze switch or button has been selected – if this isn’t required you can reverse the switch or press the button again to put the appliance back into normal operating mode.
If the interior light doesn’t go out in your fridge freezer after the door is closed this may mean the door is not fitting securely, resulting in the inner light staying on.
